SuperZoo is a trade show dedicated to the pet industry and is was established in 1950 by World Pet Association (WPA). And it is the largest expo in North America with nearly 11,000 attendees from all over the world.
Since Mandalay Bay Hotel is very close to my home, it was convenient to attend despite the fact that I had foot surgery two weeks prior and was making my way around on a scooter. Granted, I should have upgraded to the motorized one, since the manual version barely rolled on the carpet. Live and learn, right?!
I was in heaven! All these fantastic exhibitors, educational sessions, grooming competitions, networking events and fun, fabulous furry friends. The expo itself was so big that I had to split the “walk-down-the-aisle” into different days. I was on a mission to find perfect products that can be helpful for animals not only in hospice, but also for preventative measures during earlier years. I zoomed in on good nutritional supplements, natural treats, therapeutic beds, gentle cleansing products and cute accessories. I was also delighted to stumble upon Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation, who works to end animal cruelty, homelessness and neglect. Whoohoo, just awesome!
And since my baby King Von Nugget is allergic and sensitive to everything, he is a great indicator for what is suitable for any pet with a compromised immune system. Yes, he happily volunteers to test out treats and toys. When I presented him with a giant heap of goodies on the last day of the show, he couldn’t stop smiling.
So who was the biggest “celebrity” I met at the show? Well, it would have to be Stella, the Frenchie from the TV Show “Modern Family”. She was sitting in her director’s chair at Ruff Puppies Collars’ booth. And there was a never ending parade of poodles in every color you can imagine, with haircuts so trendy it would make Vidal Sassoon look like last season. I can’t wait for the next show!
